the very long tweed ride

Posted: July 26th, 2010 | Author: Ted | Filed under: Uncategorized | Comments Off

Our good friend Mr Kelvin Pawsey is about to head off on a bike ride. A 900 mile bike ride from Folkestone (in SouthEast England) to the Isle of Lewis (NorthWest Scotland, and home of Harris Tweed). Hoping to raise as much money as he can for both the Harris Tweed Authority Educational Trust and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. he’s planning on making the journey in three weeks.

Kelvin will leave from Folkestone’s Sunny Sands Inshore Recuse Boathouse at 10 am on 31 July. If you’re near, pop out to give him a bit of cheer! And should you spot him along the way — he’ll be the gentleman in tweed — raise a chapeau.

If you’d care to support him in his fine endeavour, you can sponsor him on his JustGiving page.

He will be blogging along the journey, so follow him on his blog … or visit him on his facebook page. We’ll keep you informed about his journey.

moncler gamme bleu s/s 2011

Posted: June 21st, 2010 | Author: Ted | Filed under: Uncategorized | Comments Off

the weather’s been a little warm to be dusting off the tweeds of late, so we’re all in favour of sharper cycle clothes, in whatever materials they come.

luckily, it’s the start of men’s fashion week in milan today. moncler showed its thom browne-designed gamme bleu spring/summer 2011 collection today at the famous vigorelli velodrome in milan. it was entirely focused on smart, cycle-inspired clothes. we’re fans.

gieves and hawkes are holding a sample sale. lots of off-the-peg suits (and a good selection of personally tailored suits that were never picked up), more shirts than you could shake a well-dressed stick at, and a good selection of ties and other accessories.

rapha gentleman’s race

Posted: April 27th, 2010 | Author: Ted | Filed under: Uncategorized | Comments Off

The Tweed Run has been offered a team in the Rapha Gentleman’s Time Trial. On 13 June, 10 hand-selected teams of six people each will ride from London to Brighton and back. Each team’s handicap is calculated, the slowest start first, the faster start last. Some teams will race very seriously, some will be a bit more relaxed about it and enjoy the scenery (and possibly a pub or two along the way). It’s not particularly a race, and nobody cares about the results. It’s more about having a good day’s ride.

The Tweed Run team will be a serious team, but perhaps more concerned with the gentlemanly aspects of the day than the race aspects. Be aware that it’s a ride from London to Brighton and back, so not for the fainthearted — you’ll need to be fairly cyclefit to participate. If your riding is up to, uhm, snuff, please get in touch with us at shop@tweedrun.com

Trouble at t’mill!

Posted: April 27th, 2010 | Author: Ted | Filed under: Uncategorized | Comments Off

Hello friends. It has come to our attention that Tweed Run products made with Dashing Tweeds fabric may not have any Lumatwill woven into them. This affects the following products: Dashing Tweeds/Tweed Run Flatcap, DS Dundee/Tweed Run Plus Two’s and the flash on the Rapha/Tweed Run Socks.

Dashing Tweeds’ mill ran out of Lumatwill thread halfway through weaving this tweed, and instead substituted a plain grey thread (which is not reflective). We were only made aware of this error yesterday.

Our products are manufactured with the utmost care and attention to detail, and this does not affect their quality or wearability. It does, however, mean that they do not contain any reflective material, as previously advertised.

If you purchased one of these items from us, we will be contacting you directly regarding your product. We are committed to ensuring that you are happy with your purchase. If you have any questions or concerns about this issue, you can contact us on shop@tweedrun.com .

Please accept both the Tweed Run and Dashing Tweed’s humblest apologies for this error.
